Fokas Evangelinos was born in Mesolongi, one of the most historical cities of Greece. He graduated from the State School of Orchestral Art in Athens where he was taught by eminent teachers such as Dora Tsatsos, Zouzou Nikoloudis and John Metsis.
As a student at the State School of Orchestral Dance he participated in the ancient tragedy chorus of “Agamemnon” choreographed by Zouzou Nikoloudis. He also participated in the comedy of Aristophanes “Birds” accompanied with Manos’s Hadjidakis music as presented in the Ancient Theatre of Philippi, Delphi and at the Atticus Odeon Theatre.
He has choreographed more than 50 theatrical performances at the Ancient Epidaurus Festival, at the National Theatre, at various stages and at the National Opera.
At the National Theatre he choreographed many ancient comedies including Aristophanes’s “Clouds”, “Lysistrata”, “Thesmophoriazusae”, “Frogs” presented at the Ancient Theatre of Epidavros as well the musical “Alas for the Youth”, “The Students”, “Mizerere”, “Who Helen was” at the main stage of the National Theatre.
At Small Epidaurus he projected “Thilicratis Love”, “Exodus”, directed by Dimitris Lignadis.
He was awarded as a choreographer with the choreography prize “Koula Pratsika” by the Greek Theatre Study & Research Center for Aristophanes ancient comedy “Lysistrata” and “Who Helen was” performed at the National Theatre.
He has choreographed a performance at the ancient stadium of Olympia for the International Forum for Peace and the Olympic Truce organized by the International Olympic Truce Center.
He also contributed in the Opera as choreographer in “Merry Widow” directed by Dimitris Lignadis.
Since 2000 he has been teaching contemporary dance at the Drama School of the National Theatre.
In 1996 he founded his own School of Dance in Athens (Kypselis 5A) where the English methods Academy ISTD, RAD, SDS, UKA are taught.
In 2004 he also established a second School of Dance (4 Averof and Marni str.), which is an APPROVED DANCE CENTER of IMPERIAL SOCIETY OF TEACHERS OF DANCE.
He has directed and choreographed performances with the participation of his 300 students for charity reasons whenever a chance occurs.
All these years he has directed and choreographed TV shows, films, TV series, music awards shows, music venues and concerts. In his shows have participated great artists from Greece and abroad such as Phillip Kirkorov and Dima Bilan in Moscow, Nikolai Baskov and Monserat in St.Petersurg.
In 2010-2011 he was a judge in the Greek panel of “Dancing with the stars” I and II.
He participated as a director and choreographer in the Eurovision Song Contest ranking the first and third place. In 2006 he worked as creative director of the Eurovision Contest held in Greece and as a choreographer for Russia (1st place) and Ukraine (2nd place). 2013 brought the 2nd position for Azerbaijan.
In 2009 in an open competition he was the winner for the creative director of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the World Games Special Olympics 2011.
He was the artistic director of the Flame Lighting Ceremony that was lit upon the Sacred Hill of the Pnyx for the World Games.
As creative director he presented Β the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the Special Olympics Hellas athletes at the World Summer Games ATHENS 2011 at the Panathenaikon Stadium.
In 2012 he directed the performance of his schools with the title Β« The four quarters of the yearΒ»took place at the Athens “Megaron” Concert Hall and was dedicated to the athletes of the Special Olympics Hellas. For his charity actions he was honored with medal by Special Olympic athletes and the President of Special Olympic Hellas Ms Gianna Despotopoulos.
In 2012 he choreographed the Β«CloudsΒ» of Aristophanes for the National Theatre presented at the festival of Ancient Epidaurus , the musical “Chicago” at Pallas theatre and also various other theatrical performances in central theatre of Athens This year he is the judge in the panel of “Dancing with the stars III”.
In 2013 he will be the artistic director of the flame lighting ceremony that will take place in Zappeion Megaron for the Special Olympics World Winter Games Korea 2013.
He directed and choreographed the musical for Badminton theater an extravaganza that recounts the history of Greece through inspection titled "I'll take you to leave".
Also directed and choreographed for the National Olympic Academy of reviving the history of the first modern Olympic Games through the arts, music, acting and dancing in an educational program that has a vision to disseminate the principles of Olympism and our Olympic history in primary and secondary students under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport held in Panathinaikon Kallimarmaron Stadium on 12th of April.
